LEADER4DiLoc is an energy-saving driver assistance system for mobile end devices, developed and operated by partners CN-Consult GmbH and Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Schienenfahrzeuge GmbH for the European rail transport market. LEADER4DiLoc is offered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution via DiLoc|Sync.
This driver assistance system provides valuable support to operators, enabling them to achieve high levels of energy efficiency by taking the timetable, topography and, ideally, current traffic into account. Using data on train configuration, routes, timetables, current speed and GPS location, the driver assistance system determines the most efficient way to drive, prioritising either energy savings or punctuality depending on the configured settings. For freight operators in particular, the integration of up-to-date local traffic data – such as data from the “The green functions of train movement control” by DB Netz AG in Germany – is becoming increasingly important as the use of assistance systems grows. This data, which is ideally provided by control centres via an interface, is communicated to drivers using an ergonomically optimised display, which informs the driver of the most efficient driving profile at any given time, taking all of the factors listed into account. As the system is designed to provide recommendations, the driver of the vehicle retains full operational responsibility.
Via the on-board display, LEADER4DiLoc also incorporates a comprehensive, web-based back-office function. This function serves as a physical interface for the cloud-based runtime environment and as the interface to live operating information, while also providing a comprehensive (real-time) monitoring and analysis tool for deploying the system in the field.
